Obituary of Maureen R. Salvador

Albany- Maureen R. (Healy) Salvador passed away Monday, May 16, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Maureen "Marnie" was born in Albany on August 5, 1924 to the late Leo and Rosemary Gallagher Healy. Marnie was proud of her large Irish family being one of ten children; 5 boys and 5 girls. She is a graduate of Vincentian Institute and was a lifelong Roman Catholic. While working full time she attended night school at Siena College, graduating in 1949 as one of the first women to receive a degree in accounting. She was voted "Most Ideal Siena Woman" and was the first woman elected president of the night school. She prepared income tax returns for individuals and small businesses her entire career and worked diligently until her mid 80's. She never missed a family event and loved to chronicle the gatherings with super 8 film and photography. She was a great reference for family history and was always willing to share a story. Marnie loved going on vacation with her family, especially to Cape Cod. Wife of the late Urano "Reynold" Salvador. Mother of John Salvador, Joanne Salvador, Susan (Chuck Koffenberger) Salvador and Scot (Carol) Salvador. Grandmother of Taylor and Mackenzie Koffenberger, Stephanie and Michael Salvador. Sister of Kathleen Blaise, Richard (Joan) Healy, Ellen Speicher, Michael Healy and the late Rosemary LaRue, John J., Leo, Robert Healy and Patricia Burton. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer Saturday at 10:30 and 11:30 at the Church of the Holy Spirit, East Greenbush where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral Friday from 4-7 PM. Burial will be in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands. The family would like to thank the staff at Van Rensselaer Manor, especially B2 for their wonderful care shown to Maureen.
