Hartwell and Polly Herring posted a condolence

Polly and I met John and Barbara 16 years ago when we moved to New York and joined the Hudson-Mohawk chapter of the Airstream Owner's club. We did not know anyone in New York and they helped make us feel welcome with a place we could belong. I always thought of John more like a big brother than someone of the previous generation. I served with WWII Veterans during the 1960s and we had many conversations about life when we both were younger. I admired his wit and his wisdom. He was among the most amusing people I have known and always had a ready smile. We will remember him with love and fondness. Hartwell and Polly Herring, Trenton, NY

Grandpa I love and miss you. I had nothing but respect for you. You served our country during WWII and did a great job raising two sons, my father and Uncle Mike. Thank you for everything you've done for the family and our country. You truly were a good man. I loved talking to you and listening to your stories about the war, they are stories I will never forget, and memories I will cherish. Rest In Peace I'm sure you are reunited with grandma and many others that have gone before you. Love, Your Grandson Brian P Monahan
