Gretta E. Morrison, age 92, passed away Friday, October 21, 2016 at Emmanuel House. She was born February 15, 1924 in Orleans, VT, the daughter of Frank and Elletta (Thompson) Hemenway. On August 17, 1941, she married Arlington Quinn Morrison and he preceded her in death in 1989. Gretta was a furniture consultant with Standard Furniture Co. in Albany, NY, retiring after 40 years of service. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and enjoyed knitting and reading. Gretta's greatest joy was the close and loving relationship she had with all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She lived at Emmanuel House in Ann Arbor for the last four years of her life, where she was cared for by Sisters of The Servants of God's Love and 50 volunteers. Survivors include: her sons, Vincent (Barbara) Morrison of Syracuse, NY and Vance Morrison of Howell, MI; stepson Edward Morrison of Virginia Beach, VA; eight grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her stepson Keith Morrison and brothers, Herbert, Ernest, Kenneth and Jim Hemenway. Cremation has taken place. Funeral from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Noon. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home prior to the service from 10:30 am-12 pm. Interment will be in New Rural Cemetery, East Greenbush.
