My deepest condolences to Ray's family and friends. While we weren't close, I worked in circles with Ray for the better part of 20 years. His name and reputation were synonymous with Waterford Rescue. Everyone who ever worked with Ray had only good things to say. He was a true leader.

Rebecca, my heart goes out to you, Kyle, Ryan and all of your families . You know all to well what a great man Ray was and his presence will be missed by all. I'll miss not being able to reminisce with him about all the crazy stuff we used to do when we worked together.
Unfortunately, I will be out of town for all the services and will not be able to attend. My thoughts and prayers will be with you all during this time.

I remember all the late nights at the DeFreestville Fire House working on the trucks, training programs or reviewing PCR’s. His work ethic was off the charts, he was relied on for many projects in the department. As a friend, he was always there to lend an ear and would always joke with me to cheer me up. I will miss you my dear friend, I wish I came back home to see you more often... RIP Ray

I went to Sacred Heart School in Troy with Ray. He was a great ‘kid’. I heard the news of his passing and thought back to the last time that I saw him and it was probably in the 80s. But the ‘kids’ I went to school with at Sacred Heart (many of whom were with me for nine formative years of my life) are just always there. Always part of the fabric of how we all grew up. I heard ‘Ray Swart’ or ‘Raymond Swart’ and always thought about Sacred Heart and Emerald Greens. Everyone was from somewhere...Albia, Hillsview Heights, South Troy, Emerald Greens, etc. Ray was Emerald Greens. I used to ride my bike through Albia, up Winter Street, through the Dump to his house. God Bless his Family. God Bless Ray. See You in Heaven!

On behalf of the Malta-Stillwater EMS family, we are distraught over Ray's death. He was a great man and friend. He was a leader in the Saratoga County EMS community and worked hard to provide a great EMS service in Waterford.
More importantly, Ray was a family man. He loved his family. His wife and kids were all he talked about. He cared about his work, but loved his family.
We truly lost a great man that will be remembered.
