Obituary of Lewis A. Katras
Lewis A. Katras, 88, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2019. Lew was born on March 13, 1931 in Albany, NY to William & Pauline Katras. Lew graduated from Albany High School & Albany Business College. He then pursued a career at NYS Dept of Taxation and Finance for 37 years, retiring in 1991.
Lew enjoyed bowling, golfing and swimming in the pool at his Florida home. He was an avid Yankee fan and dedicated Cleveland Browns fan. Lew was a kind and generous man with a huge heart and smile. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
Beloved family members that have passed before Lew are his parents, William & Pauline Katras and his loving wife of 40 years, Shirley Joy Katras. Lew is survived by his sister Kathleen Nucci, his four children; Pamela (Eddie) Ramirez, Denise (Ed) Conroy, William Katras and Lisa (Bill) Clark.
In addition to his children he is survived by his grandchildren, Stacy Clark, Kacie Ramirez, Brittany Katras, McKenzie Conroy, Jordan (Shelbi) Ramirez, Thaddeus Katras, Matthew Katras, Zachary Katras and Justine Katras; also great-grandchildren, Yasiri Ramirez, Jaylen Ramirez, Xochitl Ramirez and Connor Marie Katras.
Relatives & friends are invited to call at W. J. Lyons Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer, NY, from 11am to 1pm on Thursday, May 9, 2019. Interment will follow at New Rural Cemetery, East Greenbush, NY.
