Gail our deepest condolences. Jim was so well liked In Japanese Gardens, we all had such good times. We will all cherish our beautiful memories we had with Jim. He would stop by our home and chat for awhile on his way to the pool. Why him?? He was still young and full of life. He was the Texas Holdem King. God wanted him to come home and now he is looking down on all his family and his beloved wife Gail. My heart is broken. So sad. Gail thank you for keeping us updated all thru Jim’s health crisis. Hopefully you will come back to Japanese Gardens so I and many others can give you love, friendship, and a big comfort hug. Japanese Gardens has lost a great man. Our park will never be the same. Gail we send our condolences and hope you stay strong and take care of yourself.Love you. Karen and Paul LaRosa

When I look at this photo of my beloved brother--the light surrounding him, his contented smile, the peace he seems to radiate--I feel that he is saying, "It is alright. I am happy in this new life. Don't worry about me." I hope that is what he is saying because I don't know of any other way to go on without him in my life.
He's been a best friend for a good part of my life.

Jim was a solid soldier always willing to help. As a new officer he was willing to show me the ropes and help put me on the path to be effective as a leader. He was an excellent journalist and helped train many up and coming soldiers to be amazing writers. Great at story telling the stories of his reenactments were always a fun way to pass down time. Blessings to Gail and family. Truly he will be missed.

Three short years ago, we met the best camping couple ever~ Jim & Gail Connell... They were such a kick, soo much fun to spend time with ♥♥ Jim has such a genuine special way to make one feel comfortable, welcomed and valued.. His energy for every moment was electrifying~ he has this way about him that gravitated you to want to take in every word he had to share... He would hop on his golf cart with his travelin' companion, Dog and cruise the campsite to "check" things out..or head over to Stewarts for morning mud.. Their beautiful home away from the campsite, explicitly showed the true character of his passions~his gardens, koi pond, classic cars, basement memorabilia ,etc. ♥♥ His kindness & generosity at all functions was endearing... the many enjoyable lake cruises on their boat with Dog at the realm.. as he would joyfully jump in the water and cool off~ I loved his energy, he enjoyed every moment and nothing was too challenging for him.... the morning moments we shared on his deck for coffee or intimate laughter around their campfire swapping unwanted mosquitoes... it is really a struggling time to look out our window or walk out our door and not see them sitting on their porch, enjoying the view, Gail & Jim, please know the impact you left in our hearts and as I thank you from the bottom of my heart for showing me the wonderments of life here at the campsite, not knowing now if we will be returning next summer, since you were the majority of our memories here, things are just not the same... May God Bless you Gail with faith, hope, strength and comfort endlessly as you will be your best friend when the Lord says it is time... ♥♥

Dear Gail and family, we are very sorry to hear Jim passed on. Bruce and I met Jim at the Bocce Courts in the Manor. He was a talker and a great guy to get to know. During Music in the park, Jim loved to dance on the shuffle board court. He had an awesome classic car, and was privileged to have taken a spin in it to the Park Playhouse in Albany. He definitely was a happy man, and loved to talk about and show photos of his granddaughter, Karlina. Wow! It’s hard to believe he is gone. Gail,, I know your grief is great, saying goodbye is never easy. Jim will be missed by so many friends and family, especially you. You were very blessed to have him in your life. Love Bruce and Bonnie Lester
