Obituary of Therese E. Bonacker

Rensselaer - Therese E. Bonacker, age 93 years died Sunday, December 9th, 2018  at Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing Home in North Greenbush.  A lifelong resident of Rensselaer she was the daughter of the late Frederick A. and Magdalen K. (Schiebly) Bonacker. 

She was a graduate of St. John’s Academy in Rensselaer, Saint Peters School of Nursing in Albany, and Catholic University in Washington DC.  During her years as a nurse she worked for St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany Medical Center, and the Veterans Administration Hospital in Albany, heading up the operating department for many years before retiring in 1983. 

She is survived by her sister Anne (late Paul) Reilly, and their children Susan, Mary, Michael (Nadine), Carol (Ron) Hayden, William (Marleen), Jeanne (John) Waterbury, Timothy (Linda), and Colleen (Kevin Mahar).  Therese is predeceased by her baby sister Ruth and sister Mary Katherine (Edmond) Duncan, and survived by their children Patti (Mark) Ahern, Kathy (Bill) DeWeese, Edmond (Elizabeth), Terry and the late Joseph Duncan.  She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.  Therese enjoyed skiing, golf, gardening (especially roses), traveling with friends, cardinals, and wine. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 11:30am in the Church of St. Mary, 163 Columbia Turnpike, East Greenbush. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the W.J. Lyons, Jr., Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave., Rensselaer, on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass from 9 to 11am. Interment will follow the Mass in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.
