RENSSELAER-Agnes Mae (Farrell) Poole entered peacefully into eternal rest into the arms of her loving husband Thomas and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 18, 2020. She passed in the presence of her loving caretakers, devoted daughter Sharon and granddaughter Jennifer.
Agnes was born in Albany on January 30, 1929 to Bernard G. Farrell Sr. and Anna Mae Gage. She attended St. John’s Academy graduating with the class of 1947. Upon graduation, she briefly worked for New York Telephone Co. before marrying the love of her life, Thomas Poole, Sr. who predeceased her in 1971. After the birth of her children, Agnes stayed home to care for her growing family. When the last of her children reached school age, she returned to the workforce and worked at Sterling Winthrop in Rensselaer for over 20 years. In her retirement she worked part time for the City of Rensselaer Police Department.
Agnes was a woman of great faith. She was a lifetime communicant of St. John’s/St. Joseph’s Church lending her beautiful voice to the choir and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She spent her entire life always ready to help her church in any way she could.
She leaves behind in love her brother Jack (Barbara) Farrell her cherished children Thomas Jr. (Marilyn) of Castleton, James (Barbara) of East Greenbush, Sharon (the late Boyce) Sauer of Rensselaer, Michael (Susan) of Red Rock and Steven (Angela) of Rensselaer, grandchildren Amy, David, Kelly, Aaron, Allison, Lisa, Jennifer, Michele, Jamie, Steven, Andrew, Alyssa and their spouses, 20 great-grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Agnes was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Poole Sr., her brother Bernard Farrell, Jr., son-in-law Boyce Sauer and grandson-in-law Charles Lyon.
