Rensselaer- David W. Sousa Sr, 69, of Rensselaer, passed away on Thursday, January 14th, 2021, after a long battle. He was born in, and a lifetime resident of Rensselaer to the late Joseph Sousa and Beulah Fisher Sousa. He was a Vietnam Veteran as he served in the Army from 1969-1971. He worked for many years moving furniture for Schaap's Moving Company. He was also part of the crew that cleaned out the World Trade Center after the 1993 bombing. He was a volunteer firefighter and member of Minks T. Claxton Fire Company. Dave loved his wife and his kids and grandkids and his parents. He loved having a good time and had a great love of music. He was always listening to his "oldies" music. Survivors include his wife of 44 years Deborah Sousa, his daughters Terra Lasher and Robin Lange, his son Stephen Sousa and his "Best Buddy" Stephen Lasher. He had 8 brothers and 4 sisters. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 1 beautiful great granddaughter. There will be no services. The family asks any donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation in Dave's honor.
