Rosedale- Patrick J. Filien, age 51, of Rosedale, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday February 4, 2021.
Patrick was born in New York City to Mr. Jean-Claude and Yolande Charlemagne Filien. He attended Brooklyn Technical High School and went on to earn degrees from the Fashion Institute of Technology and The College of Saint Rose. St. Rose is where his star shined brightest. He loved St. Rose for giving him the opportunity to meet the Love of his Life, Tiffani Adams Filien, forever brothers from the Men’s Basketball Team, and form friendships all over campus. After graduation he went on to coach at many institutions, leaving his special mark everywhere: Bishop Maginn (Freshmen), Southern Vermont College, Lock Haven University, LIU-CW Post, The University of Vermont (3 NCAA tournaments), The University at Albany (2 NCAA tournaments), Air Force Academy, and University of Missouri Kansas City Women’s programs, Albany Academy (JV), and finally, his own program as Head Coach and Athletic Director of Bryant and Stratton College in Albany.
Patrick is survived by his wife Tiffani, son Marcus, and daughter Lauren; his above-mentioned parents; his sister Marie Hamilton, brothers Robert (Nicole) Filien, Lesley (Denise) Filien, and his sister-in-law Nicole Adams. He is also survived by his St. Rose Basketball Family which was part of his soul, nieces, nephews, countless aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family.
The funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, February 11th at St. Pius X in Loudonville at 12 PM. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the WJ Lyons Jr. Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-7 PM. Masks are required, social distancing and occupancy limitations will be observed.
