Obituary of Mary T. Parkinson

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary Travis Parkinson was granted her angel wings on February 19, 2021 and flew to the heavens to be reunited with her family. Mary was born in Ithaca, New York on November 6th, 1924 to Raymond and Edna Travis. She earned her diploma in nursing at the University of Rochester and worked as a labor and delivery nurse for many years. Mary met her husband, Kenneth, in Ithaca and the two were married on November 17th, 1951. They raised their children in Ithaca and later retired to Fort Myers, Florida, and recently came back to New York to be close to family. Mary is survived by her daughter Martha (Larry), grandchildren Lauren (Drew) Donovan, Marissa (Stephen) Miller, and Michael (Jordan) Donovan, and great grandson Lucca. She is predeceased by her husband Kenneth Parkinson, children John David, Michael Robert, and Beth Ann, sisters Doris Alder, Marie Mann, and brother Raymond Travis. Mary, or Nanny as her grandchildren called her, was always a positive force to those around her. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and her family remembers fondly her love of needlepoint, gardening, music and singing, playing dominos and solitaire, and of course spending time with her family. Mary was truly a light of life. Her calm nature, smile, dance moves, and spirit brought tremendous joy to those around her. Services will be private.
