Obituary of Anna Maunu

Schodack- Anna Maunu passed away peacefully on March 14, 2021 at her chosen home in Schodack, NY where she has lived since 1969. She was born in Vaasa, Finland on March 30, 1921. Anna and her husband Toivo emigrated from Finland to British Columbia, Canada in 1952 and then in 1957 they came to the East Greenbush, NY area. Anna loved doing all types of crafts including quilting, sewing dolls, knitting, crocheting, embroidery, needlework and painting. She had a natural talent for drawing and painting which she demonstrated throughout most of her 100 years. Several generations of neighborhood children will recall Anna as their “Aiti”. She loved them all.
Anna was predeceased by her loving husband, Toivo Maunu. She is survived by a daughter, Anne-Kaarina Adair (Timothy); three sons, Kari Maunu, Jarmo Maunu, and Markku Maunu (Cynthia); thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. Due to COVID19, calling hours will be private. Funeral services to mark her long and wonderful journey in time will be held Monday, March 22, 2021 at 11:30 AM at Woodlawn Cemetery, East Schodack, NY.
