Obituary of Josephine DiTullio

Please share a memory of Josephine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rensselaer- Josephine “Lovie” DiTullio, entered into eternal rest on April 1st at Evergreen Commons. Born Scaccia Giuseppina on November 5, 1927 in Italy, she immigrated to the United States in 1954, making Rensselaer her home and proudly becoming a naturalized citizen. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jacob “Jimmy” DiTullio; loving son Fernando “Abe” DiTullio; son-in-law Carey Pickett and sister Adalgisa Scaccia. Josephine was known as a generous, kind-hearted individual whose humor brought laughter and joy to all who were fortunate to meet her. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, cooking, and baking; but mostly, she enjoyed sharing the fruits of these labors with family, friends, neighbors, and strangers. She also loved tending to numerous flowers and plants. She was a longtime communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Rensselaer and a member of the St. Anthony Society for more than 50 years. She retired from New York State OGS. Left to cherish her memory is her devoted and primary caregiver daughter, Josephine “Josie” DiTullio; daughter, Leonella DiTullio Pickett; sister, Ada Marcoccia; grandson, Justin (Amy) Pickett; great grandsons, Luke, Finn and Rhett Pickett; nieces, Pasquelina Crescenzi, Sandy Raus and Michelina Perez and their families; daughter-in-law Helen DiTullio and seven step grandchildren. She also leaves behind two sisters and their families in her native Italy. A special thank you to those who visited, brought food, flowers, gifts, or sent cards during her years at Evergreen Commons, especially to her sister, Ada and niece Sandy. There is no doubt Sandy was her greatest supporter, visiting weekly, if not more often, and never failing to brighten “Lovie’s” day, filling the room with laughter by reminiscing with stories of their past. Funeral from the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer, Wednesday April 7 at 12 PM. Relatives and friends are invited and may call prior to the service Wednesday from 10AM-12PM. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.
