Obituary of Joseph C. Vona

Rensselaer- Joseph C. Vona, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 12, 2021 after a brief illness. He was born in Rensselaer to the late Gaetano and Quinta Vona and was a lifelong resident of Rensselaer.

 

Joseph began his career with the former Williams Press in Menands where he worked for 20 years, moving on to Owens Corning in Selkirk for 24 years, where he retired in 2000. 

 

He enjoyed spending time with his family, having large Italian Sunday dinners which his loving wife prepared, working around his house, mowing his lawn, and spending time with his two grandchildren.  Joseph was a devoted communicant of St John’s St Joseph’s Parish of Rensselaer.

 

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 54 years, Carmela.   He leaves behind his daughters, Mary Ann and Linda (John) and his two grandchildren, Ava and Anthony.

 

Our family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Eddy, visiting nurses, and the St. Peter's Hospital Cardiac floor nurses.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Church of St. Mary at Clinton Heights. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in East Greenbush.  Services will be private.
