Obituary of Sophie E. Moran

Rensselaer- Sophie Moran, born on April 12, 1922, passed away on November 13, 2021, at the age of 99. She was born in Albany to the late Catherine Mach and Nick Ewashko.

Sophie was the beloved wife of the late Michael Francis Moran. She was predeceased by her siblings Alice McLaughlin, Ann Budnowsi, Mary Alberti, and Walter Ewashko; as well as her beloved daughter Kathleen Tagliento.

Sophie is survived by her brother John Ewashko; son-in-law Dominic Tagliento; grandchildren Michael Tagliento (Sonia) and Dawn Arnold (Kurt); great-grandchildren Hope Tagliento, Sophia Arnold, and Avery Arnold; and several nieces and nephews.

Sophie was employed by Huyck Felt Co. in Rensselaer for many years. She was a smart, devoted, and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She cherished time with family and friends, and will be missed by all.

Her family is especially grateful for the care she received for the past four years in Carmel Gardens at Teresian House Nursing Home.

A funeral service will be held for Sophie at W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home at 1700 Washington Avenue on Wednesday, November 17 at 10:00AM. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home prior to the service from 9:00 AM to 10:00AM on Wednesday. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre in East Greenbush.
