Obituary of Joan A. Filkins

Hampton Manor, Rensselaer - Joan Ann Filkins, age 75, passed away on Saturday January 29, 2022, after succumbing to illness.
She was born on December 17, 1946, and was the oldest daughter of the late Edna (Howarth) and Nicholas Dominski of Menands, New York.
Joan grew up in Menands and went to Catholic Central High School, followed by St. Peter's nursing school. She was a kind, caring, thoughtful registered nurse and always did what was best for her patients.
Joan enjoyed family vacations and spent her early retirement years camping in the Adirondack Mountains. She loved to spend time with her family.
She is survived by her loving husband Charles J. Filkins, who has been by her side in marriage for 53 years. She also leaves behind her only daughter, Patricia Colleen (Pribis). In addition, Joan leaves behind her siblings; Paul Dominski, Jean Parker (Dominski), and Lynn England (Dominski).
The family would like to thank all of the aides and physicians that cared for Joan over the past several years.
Funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, February 4, 2022 at 9:30 AM in the Church of St. Mary's Clinton Heights 163 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer.  All are welcome to attend. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Thursday, February 3, 2022, to the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer, from 4-6 PM. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
