Obituary of Kathleen A. Chalfont

Troy- Kathleen Anne Chalfont Van Alstyne age 70 passed away suddenly Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Samaritan Hospital with her family by her side. Kathy was born in Yonkers on January 8, 1952.  She attended and graduated in 1970 from Clayton A. Bouton Jr./Sr. High School in Voorheesville. She was employed by CSC, Caremark and retired from Silhouette Optical in 2018.  Kathy loved her family and spending time with them. She loved her cats, especially Arthur and Foster.  She enjoyed feeding her squirrel friends, as well as her other wildlife animals.  Kathy loved the ocean and cherished her sister trips with her sister Lorrie. Above all, her grandchildren meant everything to her.

Wife of Charles Van Alstyne, Jr. Daughter of the late George E. and Helen Coakley Woehrle. Mother of Shana (Bruce) Stuto. Grandmother of Ayla, Angelo and Christian.  Stepmother of Janet Van Alstyne and step grandmother of Alexis and Taylor Leonard.  Sister of Lorrie (John) Thomas and Kevin Woehrle.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer at 5PM.  Relatives and friends are invited and may call prior to the service from 3-5PM.  In lieu of flowers, contribution may be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Avenue, Menands, NY 12204.
