Obituary of Matthew B. Hennessey

Troy- Matthew B. Hennessey, age 38 passed away February 6, 2022, at home.  He was born in Troy on October 4, 1983, and was the son of William and Patricia Hennessey.  Matt graduated from LaSalle Institute in Troy in 2001. He then went on and attended Virginia Tech and Hudson Valley Community College. Matt started working at Northway Toyota in 2007 as a salesman, because of his dedication and enthusiasm for his work he moved up to become the General Sales Manager during his 14-year tenure. He was always friendly and personable, often striking up conversation with complete strangers, but always leaving those conversations with a new friend. He never held a grudge or had a bad thing to say about anyone.

In his spare time, he loved to travel to exotic locations for scuba diving, camping or golfing in the summer, and snowboarding in the winter. HE was passionate about his sports and hobbies and was an avid reader.

In addition to his parents William and Patricia Hennessey; Matt is survived by his siblings; Bridget (Harry) Cox, Jason (Rhonda) Hennessey and Mark (Brittany) Hennessey. He was the uncle of Hannah Lambert, Dominik Hennessey, and Kiernan Hennessey and loved spending time with them.  He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends including his closest friends who were like brothers to Matt; Nate, Adam and Pete

Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer, Tuesday, February 15, 2022, from 4-7PM.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Avenue, Menands, NY 12204.
