Dear Poppy,
You’re the textbook definition of a role model. Truly, a friendly giant. Your support was endless, creating everyone to be the best version of themselves. You have never hesitated to lend out a helping hand, and have always wanted the best for everyone in your life. Your work ethic was unmatched, something I will forever strongly admire. Thank you for always pushing me to my limits, and always staying up-to-date on how many pull-ups I could do. You consistently go above and beyond to help your family and friends, regardless of the situation at hand. You have always been the first to give, and the last to take. You have given us a quality of life that we never could have dreamed of.
The memories we made over the last 19 years will never be forgotten. Many being some of my all-time favorites that will be cherished forever. The memories we made together are something that can never be taken from me, or any of us, and for that, I’m forever grateful. Whether it was swimming in the pool playing shark and bear, hitting golf balls, learning how to hit the speed bag, practicing for my races in the cemetery, and much, much more. All that I’m eager to one day share and pass down to the ones that didn’t have the pleasure to meet you.
I know you’re in a better place now, even though it wasn’t the ending we imagined. I know you have now become the strongest angel to pass through those pearly gates. I’m so happy that now you can once again be united with some of your favorite people. All your amazing friends, Aunt Pat, and your two Moms. Make sure you tell all of them I said hi. And even though I’d give the world for another day with you, I know we will do it again in the next life. I’m looking forward to seeing you lift like you once could, golf like you once could, and being able to walk all 18 holes together. But until then, I will wake up every day knowing I have the strongest guardian angel one could ask for.
And always know one thing . . . I love you!

Hi Dad ❤️
It’s me, your “beautiful daughter”.
I’m sorry you had to leave before we said goodbye. I can only pray you wanted it that way.
I knew I wanted to speak at your services today but wondered, where do I start? How do I fit 60 years of love and appreciation into five minutes? Then, I decided I couldn’t. So instead, I chose to focus on two things. Two things that were unique to you and me.
First, is gratitude. I practice gratitude every single day. No one had it better than your kids. You and mom gave us everything! In particular, you did so much for me and Jax. Many times it felt like you and us against the world. You were our strong, fearless, protector with hands the size of baseball mitts. Our safety was your number one priority. Now what? How do I say goodbye to my larger than life hero?
Secondly, thank you for walking me through my cancer journey (even on those days I didn’t want you to).
When I felt weak, you were my strength. When I lacked faith, you were my hope. And boy-oh-boy, everyone loved you at NYOH. Not surprisingly, you earned the nickname “the Mayor”. Imagine that, we brought some bright light to such a sad place. We made many special friends together, didn’t we?
Without fail, I always had to share you with others. Everyone wanted a piece of the jolly giant. It was my honor to call you dad!
I will miss you always giving a big thumbs up.
I will miss your voice on the telephone asking “is this our beautiful daughter”?
I will miss you making a big deal out of my homemade peanut butter cookies.
I will miss your reaction to gifts given.
I will miss you flickering your front door lights when I’m pulling out of the driveway for an extra goodbye; and then me flashing my high beams back at you.
So, thank you. Thank you for it all. And thank you for everything unsaid!
Grief is the price we pay for love. They say time makes it better. But with tears on my pillow, I don’t believe.
As you always reminded us, life is made up of nothing but memories. How right you were. And what beautiful memories we have!
Fly high Dad!
Watch over me and ask God to be good!
And remember one thing . . . I love you!

Dad;
Some things I will forever remember:
Don’t try to cut the backside out of a hog; what a great metaphor for life.
Thank you for all your hard work! You were the hardest working man I ever met. Thank you for always trying to give us a leg up.
Thank you for your constitution. Your belief in yourself was amazing!
Dad, even towards the end of your life on Earth, your intense will to live was so difficult to watch, but at the same time remarkable. Thank you.
Also, thank you Poppy Mark! You too passed on many hard-working traits, and shared many memorable quotes like “don’t be a piker!”

They called him “Big C”.
He called me “The Bandit”.
We took big swings together.
We swam far.
He told me he will give me anything I need until he can’t anymore, anything!
And that I will be alright.
Heavens strongest angel went home!

My partner of 63 years;
My fearless protector; and
My selfless provider.
We shared a lifetime of good times and difficult times. I will be forever grateful for your devotion to our family. In the end, that was all you needed.
A piece of all our hearts is forever gone; but we are so grateful for your leaving a treasure trove of wonderful memories we can cherish to the end.
Remember one thing . . . I love you!

Mrs. Conroy, and family,
Mr. Conroy surely was larger than life. As a little kid he seemed like a giant as a next door neighbor and still as an adult. Always happy to say hi and ask how my family was doing. Great man. Jon Finlan

Condolences to the family - I knew Mark from way back when I lived in Rensselaer - spent many a night at the Manor Inn sharing stories and tales and of course a few drinks. It was an honor to know him.
