Obituary of Dennis E. Elliott

Rensselaer- Dennis E. Elliott, age 81, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at Albany Medical Center. He was born in Easton, PA and was the son of William and Regina Elliott. Dennis lived most of his life in Indiana before moving to the Rensselaer area with his wife, Shirley, following his retirement.

Dennis served in the United States Army Reserves, and later obtained a bachelor’s in business from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. He went on to become an insurance adjuster with Crawford and Company in New Jersey. 

Dennis excelled in multiple sports in high school in Easton, PA and continued to play pick up games until late in his 50’s.  He was a soccer coach for both boy’s and girl’s teams and was a highly sought-after soccer referee.  He would often travel to the countryside, enjoying the scenic views. He loved taking his grandchildren on tractor rides on his 5 acres of land in Indiana. Dennis was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus.

Dennis is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Shirley A. (Bogusky) Elliott. He will be greatly missed by his children Michele (Michael) Doyle of Rensselaer, Stephanie (Bob) Wojasinki, Columbus, OH, and Audrey (Marc) Whitman, Houston, TX; his grandchildren, Shannon Hart, Allison Doyle, Matthew Wojasinki, and Kyra Whitman; and his sisters, Carol Elliott, and Joan Bailey.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 175 Williams Rd, Troy, on Friday, Dec. 2, 2022 at 10AM.  All are welcome to attend.  Family and friends are invited and may call at the W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer, on Thursday, December 1st from 4:00pm-6:00pm. Inurnment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
