Obituary of Barbara A. Mancini

Rensselaer- Barbara Ann Mancini (Thompson) age 65 of Rensselaer died suddenly Thursday, December 15, 2022. Barbara was born in Albany, New York, June of 1957, to parents Shirley and Jack Thompson. Barbara held a career in the NYS Education Department for over 35 years. In her spare time and retirement Barbara enjoyed spending time at the beach, going to concerts and traveling with family. She is survived by her husband of 39 years and companion of nearly 50, Thomas P. Mancini, and children, Adam (Kayla) Mancini, Scott (Claire) Mancini, Clubber Mancini, and grand dogs Roscoe and Piper continue to celebrate her life.  She is predeceased by her father, John F.  Thompson, Sr.; mother in law Virginia Mancini and sister in law Catherine Mancini. She is survived by her mother, Shirley A. Thompson, father in law Anthony (MaryLou) Mancini, siblings, Jack (Marge) Thompson, Mary (Theodore) Minissale, Paul Thompson, Pete (Davia) Mancini and a number of nieces and nephews. Family and friends are welcome to attend calling hours at W. J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave. Rensselear, Tuesday, December 20th from 4:00-7:00pm. Funeral mass to follow Wednesday, December 21st at 10:30am. at St. John the Evangelist and St. Joseph Church, Herrick Street, Rensselaer. Mom, I’ve written this obituary more times than I can count; I erase it and start over just going round and round. 

I’m staring at your photo, you’re smiling back, realizing what is written is just the same old crap. 

You wouldn’t want that, it doesn’t fit you, to fill everyone in just because it’s what you’re “suppose to do”. 

I want to acknowledge your courage and strength, as you hid your pain and kept a smile on your face. 

You are our mom, our friend, dad’s wife to the end. We miss you so much, we can’t comprehend.
