As my brother John, my sister Claire, and I were growing up, my mother, Carole Nagengast, told us stories about her favorite uncle - Uncle Wally! He was not forgotten then nor will he be now. Sending you all our best from California, Mary Anne Connelly John Connelly and my sister Claire who was already there to greet Wally home!

Wally Malek was my beloved uncle. He taught me to "drive" when I was about 10. I'd sit between his legs in the Army Jeep he had salvaged and steer. He would operate the clutch and brake and I would listen for the sound of the engine and tell him when I thought it was time to shift from first to second to third. He would depress the clutch and I would shift. These lessons were a high point in my ten-year-old life and stood me in good stead when I was actually old enough to drive. Rest in peace, dear Wally.
