Obituary of Joan M. Henchey

Joan M. (Gardner) Henchey, 85 of Rensselaer passed peacefully into heaven on the morning of Monday, March 27^th at Evergreen Commons. 

The daughter of the late Edward J. Gardner and Eleanor O. (Carlson) Gardner, Joan was born in Albany on February 22, 1938.

She was raised in Rensselaer and attended school there. Joan was married to her former spouse Joseph T. Henchey, Jr. on a late August day and later had their three children, Joseph, Sheryl and Tamara.

Joan was a homemaker and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had a love for animals and especially her cats. She enjoyed beautiful flowers, butterflies, cardinals and good conversation. She had a caring nature. People who met her described her as a sweet and kind soul with a good heart. 

Joan is survived by her daughter; Tamara Hernandez (Raphael), her grandchildren; Kaitlyn Waterbury (Ryan Catlin), Allison (Waterbury) Loiselle, Raphael Hernandez Jr., Joshua Hernandez, her three great-grand daughters, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She is predeceased by her former husband; Joseph T. Henchey Jr., her son; Joseph T. Henchey, III, daughter; Sheryl M. (Henchey) Waterbury and siblings.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, March 31, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. at W.J.
