Obituary of Owen F. Morrison

Rensselaer- Owen F. Morrison “Mr. Nick”, of Rensselaer passed away peacefully at his home on March 29, 2023. Nick was born in Albany and was the son of the late Arthur and Marguerite Morrison.

Nick was a baker at Freihofer's, collected Antiques, a musician, and lifelong party planner extraordinaire. Nick loved his home and his community. Every holiday dinner Nick entertained family and friends. Memorial Day and the Fourth of July picnics were open to all. The Rensselaer Senior Center enjoyed being hosted by Nick and Tim, enjoying full use of Nick’s pool, yard, and home. Nick was an avid musician and loved to dance, playing in bands throughout the Catskills and the Capital Region. Antiques, his home, and his waterfall were his life.  Nick’s door was always open to anyone in need or in friendship. All were welcomed with open arms.  He will be sorely missed.

Survived by his lifetime friend and companion, Timothy Mercier. Predeceased by his beloved sisters; Barbara Day; Marlene Falace; Diane Bloom.  Survived by his brother-in-law, Ronald Bloom, and many treasured nieces, nephews, and their families. 

Relatives and friends are invited and may call to the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave, Rensselaer, NY on Sunday, April 2, 2023 from 4-6 pm.  Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, April 3, 2023 at 10am.  Interment to follow at New Rural Cemetery, Rensselaer.
