Obituary of Lynne D. Rau

Rensselaer-Lynne Dorothy Rau, 58, of Troy, NY, passed away on August 16, 2023. She was born on April 8, 1965, in Jackson Heights, NY. Lynne was a hardworking and kind individual who was known for her sense of humor, generosity, and love for children. She was a loyal and caring person, always putting others before herself.

Lynne had a close-knit family and is survived by her mother and father, Arlene and Raymond Rau, and her brothers, Michael (Joyce) and Daniel (Corinne). She was a devoted aunt to her nieces, Jade, Michaela, Lacey, and Juliana as well as her nephew, Dominick. Lynne also had a special bond with her aunt Dorothy Conforti and her uncle and aunt, Warren and Christine Gensinger. She cherished her long-time best friend, Laura Wands, and the Wands and Farrell families. Lynne had numerous cousins, including Jennifer Gensinger Bee and Joseph Gensinger.

Lynne was predeceased by her grandparents Michael and Evelyn Gensinger.  Her uncles Emil (Elva) and Joseph (Barbara) Gensinger.  She was especially close to her uncle Joseph Conforti with whom she shared a love of the Yankees. Also her cousin Charles Barcia.

Lynne attended St. Fidelis School in College Pt, NY, for her primary education and later graduated from Ichabod Crane High School in Valatie, NY. She pursued a career in the healthcare field, holding various clerical positions. For the past 11 years, Lynne worked as a Sales Service Coordinator for Nulife Med. She was also actively expanding her skill set by taking an online course in IT technical support.

Outside of work, besides the Yankees, Lynne had a passion for reading, travel, and photography. She found great joy in being a loving and wonderful aunt to her nieces and nephew. Lynne's warm and caring nature touched the lives of many.

Family and friends are invited to attend the services in honor of Lynne at W J Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, located at 1700 Washington Ave, Rensselear, NY 12144, on Monday, August 21, 2023, from 4 PM to 7 PM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, located at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Donations can also be made online at stjude.org.

Lynne will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will forever remain in our hearts.
