Obituary of Mary T. Farmer

North Greenbush-Mary Theresa (Ranellucci) Farmer passed away on October 5, 2023 at St. Peter’s Hospital. Mary was born in Albany in 1954 and was the youngest of three daughters to Joseph R. and Mary T. (Carlotti) Ranellucci.  

Mary graduated from St. John’s Academy High School, Hudson Valley Community College and attended SUNY Albany. She began her career at the Rensselaer County Department of Social Services. She then worked many years for the Social Security Administration, retiring in 2015. 

Mary was a kind, generous person and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. She was the “go to” party planner at SSA and enjoyed planning and hosting parties and holiday gatherings. Mary also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends.  

Mary is survived and will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 47 years Benjamin Farmer; her beloved daughter Chelsea (Mike Janucik) Farmer; her sister Rosemarie Virgil; and her sisters-in-law Patricia Minehan and Mary Rosekrans. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends. 

Along with her parents Mary is predeceased by her sister, Patricia A. Peller. 

The family offers a special thank you for the compassionate care provided by Dr. Patrick F. Timmins, Lisa Armao and the entire staff at Women’s Cancer Care Associates of Albany. The family would like to thank Mary’s friends, Linda Carpinello-Dillenbeck and Kathy Stefanowicz, for their steadfast support during Mary’s extended illness. 

Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday, October 9, 2023 from 4pm–7pm to the W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at 9:30am at the Church of St. Michael the Archangel, Troy. Burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush, immediately following.
