Obituary of Jane E. Smith

Rensselaer- Jane E. Smith, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. She was born in 1934 to the late Henry and Laura (Dorr) McDermott. 

Jane will be remembered as a very loving and caring grandmother, whose fondest memories are of spending family time at Cape Cod. She enjoyed family get-togethers for the 4th of July, but particularly looked forward to Christmas time together. Jane always put her family's needs above her own.

Jane is survived and will be greatly missed by her adored children, Kathleen (David) Haggerty and Jim (Maryann) Smith; her grandchildren, Andrew Haggerty, and Alexandra and Jimmy Smith.

Along with her parents, Jane is predeceased by her beloved husband George J. Smith, Jr., and sister Mary McKeever.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 from 4-6pm to the W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer. A funeral home service will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 10am. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.
