Rensselaer-Donald Ostrander Sr. of 88 Central Ave Rensselaer New York. He died of natural causes peacefully on Tuesday, January 5, 2016. He was born on September 4, 1934 in Albany son of the late Benjamin Ostrander and Ruth Steward. Don was a longtime resident of Rensselaer and was retired from Roofer Local 241 and the Van Rensselaer Manor. On September 10, 1965 he married his wife Marie Fitzpatrick Ostrander in Rensselaer. Besides Marie, Donald is survived by his children Donald Ostrander, Jr. (Mary) of Watervliet, Wayne Ostrander (Anne) of Rensselaer, Lloyd Ostrander (Carol) of Louisiana, Tina Louise Mason of Waterford, Michelle LaMar of Florida and Aloma Ferer ( Edward) of Waterford. Donald came from a family of 15 children and is survived by his brother Richard Ostrander (Catherine) of Cohoes; grandfather of Shawn Ostrander, Dakota Ostrander, Devin Osterhout, Damien Renker, Michael Tomlinson, Amy Donovan and Nicole Mason. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Donald was a loving husband that honored his wife and treated her as a Queen. He was a Dad who always held two jobs making sure his children were provided for. He had a very special bond with son Donald Jr. and grandson Shawn (The Three Jokers). Donny was enjoyed and loved by many friends and all that knew him. He frequently visited Stewart's shops throughout local areas three times a day or more with his fun, witty and some outlandish stories. He truly enjoyed this in his daily routine. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer Wednesday January 13, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
