Obituary of Kathleen M. Haggerty
Rensselaer- Kathleen M. Haggerty, age 65, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle, on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at St. Peter’s Hospice. Born in 1958, she was the eldest daughter of the late George J. Jr., and Jane (McDermott) Smith.
Kathleen attended St. Mary’s High School and then went on to graduate with a four-year degree from the College of St. Rose. She began her career as a lobbyist and paralegal for the NYS Senate and would later work with her husband at their CPA company, Haggerty and McGarvey CPA's for many years. In her later years, she spent some time employed at the Legal Aid Society.
Kathleen loved shopping trips wither her mother, vacations in Cape Cod and could be found tending to her beautiful garden regularly. She will be remembered by all who loved her as a dedicated and loving woman who always put her family first.
Kathleen is survived and will be deeply missed by her adored son, Andrew D. Haggerty.
Along with her parents, Kathleen is predeceased and now reunited with her beloved husband, David T. Haggerty.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call to the W.J. Lyons, Jr., Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, on Saturday, December 2, 2023, from 9am-10am. A funeral home service will follow at 10am. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.
