Obituary of Kathryn L. Vooris

East Greenbush- Kathryn L. Vooris, 79, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, in Scottsdale, AZ. The youngest child of Herbert and Helen Kypke Vooris, she was born in Freeport, NY.

Predeceased by her loving wife, Doreen Anderson, they were partners and best friends for 38 wonderful years, married five. Kathy lived her life authentically, marrying Doreen almost as soon as it was legal in New York.

Kathy was predeceased by her siblings Herbert, Norman, George, Ronald, Robert, Judith and Joan.

She is survived by her brother John, sister-in-law Shelly Anderson and almost forty adoring nieces, nephews and extended family.

Kathryn was a graduate of Mercy Business High School and Colonna Beauty School in Albany, NY. She worked for and retired from the Plumbers Union. Kathy was a phenomenal dancer, loved trips to the casino and traveling to visit friends and family.  Above all, she was the family matriarch, always caring for family and putting those needs first. She cherished friends, including her Suncoast cathedral MCC family in Venice FL. Kathryn will be remembered for giving the best hugs.

A celebration of life will be held Monday, December 18, 2023, at 11am at the W.J. Lyons Jr., Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer, NY 12144. Relatives and friends may call prior to the service from 10am-11am. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Albany, NY.
