Obituary of Janet E. Pearson
Averill Park-Janet E. Pearson (Jaycie Ganance) age 66, of Averill Park passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 16, 2023 surrounded by her loving family and friends. Jaycie was born in Albany and was the daughter of the late Herbert Ganance and Janet Folmsbee.
Janet was raised in Rensselaer, attending Rensselaer City Schools and finishing her studies at Saint Anne’s Institute. She has been a lifelong resident of the capital district. Janet had over 35 years of dedicated service for the State of New York, beginning her career in the Tax and Finance Department. Along the way, she received various promotions and ended with the Office of State Comptroller in the retirement unit.
Jaycie liked to travel, enjoying trips to Atlantic City and Turning Stone with her sister and dear friends, Penny and Dee. She was a founding member of her work Spirit Team. Janet loved crafts and in retirement worked as a tour escort for a local bus company. Her absolute favorite holiday was Christmas and loved collecting Santas. She was a big NY Yankees fan and loved going to the stadium as often as she could to see the games. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandkids. She always put everyone else’s needs before her own and will be remembered for her big heart, kind soul and willingness to help others.
Loving wife of Donald S. Pearson. Cherished mother of James J. McCauslin of Rensselaer, Matthew J. McCauslin (Kristy) of Schenectady and Michelle M. McCauslin-Chambers of Rensselaer. Grandmother of Darren, Austin, John, Connor, Rebekah, Lily, Hannah, Robert, and Liam. Great grandmother of James. Sister of Linda Hacker (Patrick) of Altamont and Susan Ganance Ament of Missouri. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and her beloved canine companion Nova.
Funeral service will be held at the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer, Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023 at 7PM. All are welcome to attend. Relatives and friends are invited and may call prior to the service from 5-7PM.
