Obituary of Joan M. Schauer

Wynantskill- Joan M. Schauer, age 73, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 9th surrounded by her loving family. Born in Waterville, ME, to the late John and Mary Nelson. She was a creative spirit whose artistry and passion breathed life into everything she touched. Joan left an indelible mark on the world around her. As an artist, lunch monitor and teaching assistant at Bell Top School, she was dedicated to nurturing young minds.  Her advocacy through the Parent Support Group and teaching of "Art Nook" classes reflected her boundless creativity and unwavering commitment to education.

Joan will be fondly remembered for her generosity and community involvement.  The loving wife of Michael Schauer, her legacy lives on through her children Rae Marie Schauer, Aron Schauer, Nyssa So, and Reid Schauer, and her cherished grandchildren Etta Marie Shaver, Ruby So, Veronica Shaver, and Ava So. Sister of Gary and Lester Nelson, and the late Sharon Kravitz, Joan's spirit of strength, love, creativity and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Please join us in celebrating Joan's remarkable life and legacy on Friday March 15 in the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington AvenueRensselaer at 11am.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather prior to the service from 10-11am.  Interment will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
