Thank you for serving our country and leaving your Northern state of NY to serve here in the southern border. It is such an irony that you traveled so far to give your life but then again that is what often happens to those who serve our country. I asked the rector of the Nation Shrine of Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan and he reminded that he celebrated a mass with the other two fallen agents. May God give you the recompense that you deserve for giving your life to safeguard our borders. Respectfully Carlos Roberto Latin

My most sincere condolences to the family of Casey Frankoski, from a fellow aviator of both the NYARNG and Army and fellow graduate of Columbia High School(Class of 1981). I was in the same NY Guard unit in the 1980s when it was a Co. D, 42d Aviation Battalion, an attack helicopter unit out at AASF# 3 in Latham. Aviation, particularly the "rotary wing" type we were trained in, is a hazardous military occupation. As your Casey and I were taught in flight school, "there is no such thing as a gliding helicopter," that they are machines held aloft "by a myriad of working parts working in opposition of each other" and she surely embodied the best of Americans in serving our state and country and we are all poorer for her tragic loss.
Below included only so you know of my appreciation for her service and sacrifice.

The day we got the call….I had been looking at my “memories” on FB, and there was one about Casey texting me, 14 years ago, to let me know Big Time Rush tickets had gone on sale for SPAC. She knew Lara would be excited to go and she wanted me to be able to get the tickets. I was going to screen shot it and send it to her….after that, as Lara got older, they became summer concert buddies. We loved that Casey was just as comfortable hanging out with a girl 6 years younger than her and her parents. Even Alexander, who stopped coming to camp regularly, remembered that Casey was always fun to hang out with when he was a kid. He said the he always remembered she was nice to him.
As Casey found her calling, to fly, we shared in the family’s pride as she quickly became a skilled pilot. She has her father’s tough/bad ass and her mother’s party spirit- the perfect combination. I’ve never known a more confident, kind, fun loving person in all my life. Summers won’t be the same without her smiling face but we will carry on as I think she would like - by the fire, with a drink, and excellent music. She will be missed by the entire Osani family.

‘Tis a fearful thing
to love what death can touch.
A fearful thing
to love, to hope, to dream, to be –
to be,
And oh, to lose.
A thing for fools, this,
And a holy thing,
a holy thing
to love.
For your life has lived in me,
your laugh once lifted me,
your word was gift to me.
To remember this brings painful joy.
‘Tis a human thing, love,
a holy thing, to love
what death has touched.”
