As we live out our lives, there comes a time when we begin to understand our mortality. As part of this revelation, we think back over the years reliving our victories and ruing our mistakes. At some point we may entertain thoughts regarding the legacy which we leave when we pass on: Exactly what will people say about us, and what affect will our descendents have on the world we left behind.
Over the years Tony had said that he certainly had his share of regrets. These were due primarily to his ongoing battle with the effects of alcohol, and included many decisions made while not thinking clearly.
But Tony fought his way back from the edge of the cliff he teetered upon. He was able to refocus and redirect himself to contribute to the welfare of others in ways that most of us could never achieve. His selfless contributions to the homeless through the church and other excellent organizations such as Equinox, erased all the deficits he may have accumulated throughout his life. His untiring support of his Church brought calm, solace, and a sense of community to innumerable parishioners for many years. The positive influences Tony left upon his Grandchildren will follow them and also help lead them for the rest of their lives. When they talk about "Papa Tony" they will have fond and loving memories to share and remember. Whenever friends and relatives speak of Tony Aurelia, they will do so with a warmth and humor befitting a real human being who was not perfect, but one who stood upon his own two feet. Tony, with the help of God, his Church, his wife Jeannie, and others, turned his life into a positive example for those he leaves behind. May Tony rest in peace, and may God Bless his soul.

Jeannie and Family, I am sad that you have lost such a vital member of your family in Tony. Tony was the first friend I made at St. Michael's, as he always greeted me while carrying on his Usher duties. He made me feel so welcome at St. Michael's, and soon became a close friend and mentor. I shall do my best to carry on in Tony's footsteps as a head Usher, in ministering food to the poor, as a minister to the infirmed, and to continue be an active member in the Men's Club, Tony loved so dearly. These are just a few things Tony did for others, his shoes will never be filled, but his work will go on through many of us, who will remember and honor Tony always. Tony is Our Brother in Christ, and a Fisher of Men.

We've worked for a few years as volunteer ushers at the Palace Theatre in Albany. Tony was one of our favorite people who helped us know where to work and what to do when we were "on duty". He was always very helpful and appreciative of whatever we did to help out. He was a wonderful man and we feel very blessed to have known him. God bless you, Tony, and love from us both.

Although I was a bit out of his orbit to get to know him too well, Tony always remembered my name when we'd run into each other and did all of the right things to demonstrate he was a true gentleman. More than anything else, Tony was a powerful role model and example. His words were those of a father and teacher, but his actions spoke even louder of the generosity, compassion, and commitment I admired and try to emulate. Rest in peace, Tony.
