Obituary of Vincent J. Darrigo, Jr.

Rensselaer- Vincent J. Darrigo Jr. passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021. He was born on October 4, 1934 to the late Vincent and Jennie Darrigo and was a lifelong resident of Rensselaer.

Vincent was proud of his time in the US Navy and the Army National Guard. He enjoyed working in his garden, barbecues with family, and having coffee at Stewart's with friends. He looked forward to weekly breakfast with his nephews. 

Vincent was a recipient of the Sons of Italy Golden Lion award. He was a member of Elks Lodge 2073, the Marine Corps League, the NYS Fraternal Order of Police and the Gerald O'Neil American Legion Post #1683. He also volunteered weekly at the VA Hospital.

Vincent was predeceased by his brothers George and Jack, and his sisters Justine and Grace. He leaves behind his wife of 55 years Maria; daughters Rita (Albert) and Tina (Gino); grandchildren Chloe (James), Luke, Noah, Trevor, and Casey; his sisters Betty and Jeanette; and many nieces and nephews.

Our family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Eddy visiting nurses and Evergreen Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 14th at 10:00AM in the Church of St. Mary at Clinton Heights, 163 Columbia Tpke, Rensselaer, NY. Relatives and friends may call at the W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave., Rensselaer on Monday, September 13th from 5-7 PM. Interment will be held at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville following the Mass.
