Obituary of Carmen L. Rosano

North Greenbush-Carmen Louis Rosano, 95, passed away at home on February 8, 2023.

Carmen was born in Albany to Philip and Mary (Lomonoco) Rosano. He was a graduate of the Christian Brothers Academy, where he obtained the rank of Cadet Captain. Following his graduation from high school, Carmen enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of seventeen, serving until the conclusion of World War II. Upon his return from service, he attended Siena College where he obtained a Bachelor’s of Science Degree. He later attended the University of Alabama, where he earned a Master of Science Degree.

Carmen was proficient in the field of biochemistry and worked at the Stratton Veterans Administration for over 40 years, where he was a published researcher and was issued several patents for his work. He was a member of the American Institute of Chemists and was honored by the American Chemical Society for 60 years of service.

Sixty-five years ago, Carmen married the love of his life, Collette (Ryan) Rosano, and raised four successful children. He took a great deal of joy in spending time with his five grandchildren. Carmen loved sports and was a loyal fan of the New York Yankees and Giants. He loved spending time in Florida during the winter months, taking walks on the beach, and playing bocce and golf.

He was predeceased by his parents Philip and Mary; his sisters Concetta Janard and Sara Walsh; his son Michael Rosano and his son-in-law Anthony Kaczkowski. He is survived by his wife Collette; his children Lisa Rosano Kaczkowski, Amy Rosano, Philip (Molly) Rosano; grandchildren Katelyn Kaczkowski, John, Julia, and Mariana Rosano, Liliana Rosano-Mueller; his sister Antonia Martin; nieces Margaret Walsh, Maria Gallo, and Elizabeth (Robert) Barrett. He is also survived by several great-nieces and nephews.

There will be a private service at the W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer, on February 14. Interment will be at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
