The likes of Bill McNab, in my memory, are one reason there is a Heaven. He was a gracious, caring man with a great sense of humor. My late brother, Frank, and I got to know Bill from our playing days at Evergreen Golf Course as he stood behind the counter and regaled us with that Scottish brogue of his.
Bill would save discount coupons that we could use. He would inform us whenever the public course was too crowded for our best-ball format of playing as a team against the course and not against each other. And he wouldn't charge us the higher, private rate.
I'm so glad we kept in touch over winter by sending him a card every Christmas with a little payback for
looking out for us. We always got a return card and
a sample of his wry humor that would make us laugh out loud. Thanks for everything, Bill, especially your
friendship.
