Obituary of Margaret M. Cross
Rensselear-Margaret Cross passed away Thursday March 7th, peacefully in her sleep. Margaret, also known as Peggy, Susie, and Aunt Suey was born on September 21, 1952 in Albany, NY to Thomas and Margaret (Herbert) McMahon.
Peggy obtained her bachelor’s degree in business administration from University at Albany, SUNY. She was a proud USPS employee for over 30 years and spent semi-retirement working for St. Michael the Archangel Church in Troy, NY. She was a well-loved, devout, active member of her parish. She loved reading, sitting outside in the sun, watching her hallmark shows, and spending time with her daughters and family.
She loved being around children and spending time with her grand nephew and niece brought her great joy. She generously supported various charities throughout her life and prayed for those in need. Family and friends will remember her with warmth and kindness.
Peggy is survived by her ex-husband, Frank Cross; daughters, Anna (Luke) Cadin and Lisa Cross; grand nephew and niece, Michael and Haley Nettleton; siblings Thomas McMahon, Katie Dermott, and John McMahon; brother-in-law Bill Nettleton, as well as her nephews and their spouses. She was predeceased by her mother, Margaret McMahon, father, Thomas McMahon, sister, Bridget Nettleton, and brother-in-law, Chuck Dermott.
Calling hours will be at W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave. Rensselaer, N.Y. on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, from 4-6p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Troy, N.Y. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.
